In this mini-series of blog posts, I revisit my translated travel notes from 15 years ago, when I quit my job in Munich to start a new life. If you missed the first post, you can find it here.
Why does it always rain on me…
January 6th, 2008 – 6.25pm What do I associate with Kempten? An overnight stay at the train station, pouring rain, soaked clothes, an Afghan trainee and his Romanian co-worker who were left behind by their boss in Austria and had to drive back to Munich on their own, the Afghan father who misunderstood me with a fully loaded car when I said I had to take the highway exit – he actually drove me to the highway and let me off there; a ticket machine and the realization: I’d rather save hitchhiking for the warmer regions I’m going to visit soon. Overall, I can not complain, I was offered a ride day and night; however, as for the kilometers covered, would take me days until I would arrive in Barcelona, especially since now on Sundays, trucks are hardly allowed to drive. So I accelerate the whole thing with a train ticket from Zurich to Barcelona, which is quite cheap in comparison. And of course first a ticket to Zurich. So: the next stage:
Zurich main station!
