Tivoli, Monte Catillo – amazing views and wilderness feel, next to the stunning city of Tivoli, just outside Rome. Your adventure begins here.

The beauty of mountainous terrain and forest.
The wolves’ path
On our hike, you’re likely to encounter the Maremma cow, also known as the Maremmana. It is a breed of cattle native to the Maremma region of central Italy, which includes parts of Tuscany, Lazio, and Umbria. The breed is known for its hardiness and adaptability and is well-suited to the rugged and varied landscape of the Maremma region.
Maremma cows are large animals, with males weighing up to 1,500 kilograms and females weighing up to 1,200 kilograms. They have short, dense coats that are typically red, black, or brown in color, and are characterized by their large, muscular bodies and long, curved horns.
Maremma cows are known for their ability to thrive on a wide range of forage, including grasses, legumes, and herbs, and are able to withstand extreme weather conditions and parasites.
This trail also coincides with the “Via dei Lupi”, the “Wolves’ path”. Learn more about the wolves, endemic to this area, as well as the Maremmana breed and other animal and plant species, while enjoying beautiful panoramic views.
